A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid year, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in especial - caused him exiting of the top ten and finally separating with long-term coach his previous coach.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

It is his initial championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface after spring of that year.

The win also indicates he has achieved 21 championships at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters together, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the first title I won when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, including in Halle earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching approach and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and perform positively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players exchanged break points in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden professional title, seized the initiative to force a decider.

Moutet saved 4 early-game opportunities in a competitive final set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
