The second-hand marketplace Users Share Frustration Over Size Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for women's and children's garments but did not contact all users about the change.
Social Media Response
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and manually change the size if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Modifications
Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, from Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Required Changes
Another shopper, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she said.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
